Dampeer Chooses Oklahoma

Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma's football program finished its 2003 recruiting with a bang on Friday when the Sooners added highly-regarded Lawrence "Moe" Dampeer from Decatur, Illinois' MacArthur High School.

The 6-3, 280-pounder is the 24th player to ink with the Sooners this year. The other 23 signees were announced Wednesday.

"Moe Dampeer is the real deal," said OU head coach Bob Stoops. "We're excited to finish off a great recruiting class with one of the best defensive tackles in the country. He brings more strength, quickness and speed to our defensive line.

"He also has the personality and attitude that fit perfectly with our team and our defense."

    A three-year starter ... played offensive guard as well as tight end ... missed some playing time as a senior due to a sprained ankle ... still logged 80 tackles and nine sacks in seven games as a senior ... also caught three passes and ran 45 yards on a tight end reverse ... recorded 113 tackles and 12.5 sacks as a junior ... runs a 4.8 in the 40 yard dash ... averaging 14.8 points and 10.0 rebounds for a 14-4 basketball team ... coached by Cordell Ingram.
