Brodney Pool has become Oklahoma's fifth honoree this season for the SBC Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award. The sophomore, who picked off two passes in OU's 56-25 victory at Texas Tech, Saturday, was named co-winner of the award with Kansas safety Rodney Fowler.
Pool's first interception set up Oklahoma at the Texas Tech 49. Seven plays later, the Sooner offense was in the end zone to up their lead to 14-3. The second pick, which included a 28-yard return, gave OU the ball at the Red Raider seven. Two plays later, OU was in the end zone again with a 28-10 lead.
The sophomore safety also had six tackles, including one for a three-yard loss as the Sooners held the Red Raiders 137 yards short of their NCAA-leading total offense figure.
Other Big 12 honorees for the week were Kansas State RB Darren Sproles (offense) and Oklahoma State punter Cole Farden (special teams).
The league's players of the week are selected by a select panel of media covering the Big 12.
Four different players have captured the defensive honor this season with Derrick Strait doing so on two occassions. In total, OU playes have been cited by the Big 12 nine times.
