NORMAN, Okla. The University of Oklahoma women's gymnastics team and head coach Steve Nunno announced the signing of Caitlin Hinkis to a national letter of intent.
Hinkis will join the Sooners next season and will compete in all events. The 5-1 gymnast is a member of the C.A.T.S., Gymnastics Club, coached by Byron Knox.
This year, Hinkis was a qualifier for the International Elite, a level of competition in which national team members are chosen. Also in 2003, she placed second at the American Twister Invitational in the all-around. Hinkis was the 2002 state bar champion at Simsbury High School in Connecticut.
“Caitlin Hinkis is a National Level qualifier and is an up and coming elite level gymnast,” said Oklahoma head coach Steve Nunno. “Her dedication and enthusiasm for the sport can only make our program that much better.”
Hinkis is the daughter of Stephen and Madelaine Hinkis and has a brother and sister. She is a National Honor Society member and is interested in majoring in science or a medical related field.
