Sooners Boast Four On CoSIDA Academic District Football Team

Four University of Oklahoma football players were named to the 2003 CoSIDA Academic District VI Football Team as announced by the College Sports Information Director of America on Thursday. Senior running back Renaldo Works and junior defensive linemen Dusty Dvoracek were named first team honorees, while senior defensive back Matt McCoy and sophomore wide receiver Travis Wilson were selected to the second team.

With the honor, Works, an MIS major, earned his third first team all-district selection. Works was recently honored as National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame 2003 National Scholar-Athlete as well as last years University of Oklahoma Outstanding Male Scholar Athlete. Dvoracek, a management major, earned his second first team honor. Both Works and Dvoracek are past recipients of the Jay Myers Award for academic and athletic performance by a freshman.

McCoy, a management major, earned his third second team all-district selection, while Wilson, who is enrolled in University Studies, earned the first academic laurel of his career.

To be eligible for the team, players have to possess a 3.20 overall grade point average or better. District VI is comprimised of schools in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas.
