Women's Basketball Has A Pair of Preseason No. 21 Rankings

Sooners open exhibition action Thursday against Sparta Praha

Norman, Okla. Oklahoma women's basketball team will open its 2003-04 season with a pair of preseason No. 21 rankings according to the just released Associated Press Preseason Top 25 poll Tuesday. The Sooners also earned a No. 21 ranking in last week's USA Today ESPN Preseason Top 25 Poll. OU is one of five Big 12 Conference teams ranked among the nation's top 25 programs in both polls.

Other preseason polls that Oklahoma has been ranked include No. 10 in Slam Magazine; No. 12 in Women's Basketball; No. 18 in Street & Smith's; No. 22 in Lindy's; and No. 26 in Basketball News. Seniors Caton Hill and Maria Villarroel each received honorable mention All-America honors by Street & Smith's.

Oklahoma tips off its season by hosting Sparta Praha on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. OU will complete its exhibition schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 18 with a match up against Oklahoma Christian. The Bertha Teague Classic, which features all four Division I state schools, will serve as OU's official season opener on Nov. 22 at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City. Tulsa, Oral Roberts, Oklahoma State and OU will participate in the one day event starting at 12 p.m.
