OU senior forward Logan Womack joins other Oklahoma athletes with her own journal to take Sooner fans behind the scenes of OU's 2003 soccer season.

This is the first installment of her weekly journal. We've also added a link so you can submit your own questions for Logan to respond to in her next entry.

Journal Entry No. 1 (Oct. 2, 2003)
So far, this season has gone pretty well. We're 6-3-1 and ranked No. 24 now, so can't complain too much. We got off to a rocky start, especially when you compare it to the last couple of years. With such a young team this year, we've had to adjust to different positions and as the season has progressed, we have slowly come together. And as of late, we have been able to find our niche and play some solid soccer.

On top of the record and the ranking it was great to break the school's all-time points mark. That has never been a goal of mine but it is a nice bonus. Ultimately I worry about the win. I want to do my best out on the field for the team result.

It doesn't really matter to me if I score a bunch of goals or if I am just playing my position and helping us win by creating scoring chances and breaking down their defense. Either way, I am doing what I can to help us win the game and in the end the "W" means the most.

We had our first really big win, of course, this past Sunday against Texas (then-No. 16). Hopefully that will propel us through the remainder of the Big 12 schedule and keep us going strong. We played well against (No. 3) Texas A&M and suffered an unfortunate loss but we were proud of the way we bounced back against the big rival (UT). I think it really showed that we deserve to be where we are now.

Again, as the season goes on, I think we will continue to get better and show we can compete at the top of the conference.

Not to say that we don't deserve it, but it was a shock to hear we were ranked in the top-25 this week. I actually heard it from a friend. It is definitely a cool feeling and I think we do deserve it because we have all worked so hard. We have proved that we can compete not only with some top-25 teams but also with the some of the top teams in the nation, like Notre Dame (No.2) and Texas A&M (No. 3).

Hopefully we will continue to show that we are worthy of the ranking and we won't allow that to get to our heads. Being ranked doesn't change anything -- it's nice to be recognized -- but we just need to play the soccer that we know we are capable of playing and then maybe we can raise that No. 24 to something even better.

This year has been really stressful, being my senior year with school and soccer coming to a close. I tend to put a lot of pressure on my shoulders to do the best I can with the team, especially with the young group of girls we have.

On top of soccer, I am majoring in criminology and after school I am not sure what the future holds for me. Ultimately, I wanted to continue to play soccer but, with the U.S. women's professional league folding, that could be tough. Regardless, I have been watching the Women's World Cup and they are in the second round or so now and it has been great to watch. I just wish I could somehow go out and see a game, but obviously that is not possible.

Back to school, it's going pretty well. It's tough trying to focus on both soccer and my classes. But I am personally trying to have the best year I can have both on the field and in the classroom. Being a senior is not easy -- especially as a student-athlete -- so all you can do is try your hardest and just see what happens afterwards.

Right now, I am enjoying myself and whatever happens after graduation happens. I just want to continue to play soccer on some level.

That's all for this week. Be sure to check back next week and to click on the link below to ask whatever questions you may have for me. Take care and we hope to see some fans in Ames on Friday, GO SOONERS!
