Oklahoma cornerback Derrick Strait is the Big 12 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Sooners' 65-13 win over Texas last Saturday. It marks the second time this season that Strait has been so honored.

Saturday at Dallas, the senior from Austin, Texas, registered a career-high 11 tackles to go with three pass break-ups, two fumble recoveries and one pass interception. He returned the pick 30 yards to the Texas six to set up OU's first touchdown of the game.

The Sooners limited Texas, which came into the game as the nation's highest scoring team, to just 13 points, 32.8 below its average. The Longhorns were 32 yards under their rushing average and 52.6 yards below their passing average. UT completed just 15-of-30 passes with three interceptions.

Strait, who appears on the Thorpe Award Watch List for a third consecutive season, also won the Big 12's weekly honor after the season opener against North Texas.
