OU soccer senior forward Logan Womack joins a list of other Sooner athletes with her own journal to take Sooner fans behind the scenes of Oklahoma's 2003 soccer season.
This is the second installment of her weekly journal. We've added a link at the end of the article so you can submit your own questions for Logan to respond to in the next entry.

Journal Entry No. 2 (Oct. 10, 2003)
For the most part, last weekend we played pretty well. The tie against Iowa State was unfortunate and we should have won. For some reason, we have always struggled with the Cyclones, as least since I have been here. It seems like we always go into double overtime against them too. I think we are a better team but I guess a tie is better than a loss, especially in Big 12 play.
Against Missouri, we all came out a little slow and a little sluggish. However, towards the end of the first half and the beginning of the second, we really stepped it up. From there on out, we pretty much dominated the game and were able to put it away with Savannah's (Scott) two goals. The Monday after, I really thought the tie against Iowa State was going to drop our rankings, but again I was surprised when the top-25 poll (NSCAA/adidas) was released and we sat at No. 18.
Despite the split over the weekend, I think we are really starting to show people what we are capable of doing. The win over Missouri (after they beat No. 19 California before playing us) really propelled us to No. 18 and into other poll as well (Soccer Buzz). Hopefully this doesn't make us lose sight of our goal for the season, which will not be accomplished until the season is over, and that of course is to win the conference.
This week I will answer a couple of questions from Sooner fans. Don't forget to keep emailing me more questions and I will try to get to answering some more next week.
Logan, have you ever wanted to coach soccer?
- Ricky from Norman, Okla.
I am not sure that is my goal, but ultimately I would like to further my playing career. That is not to say I am opposed to coaching because that is something that can always be an option, but I think I would enjoy more one-on-one interaction with players. I would rather train the athletes instead of having the all the pressure of coaching them.
My daughter has been playing club soccer for six years and will play varsity for her high school this year. What advice would you give a high school sophomore who would like to play soccer at a program like OU?
- Patrick from Plano, Texas
My best advice to give girls in high school who are looking to play on the collegiate level is number one to be extremely fit. You have to be in extremely good shape to play on this level and that goes for distance running and in sprints.
Also you have to come in and work hard and show you want that spot on the team despite the abilities you have. One thing to always remember is that you have to play hard all the time and have a good attitude on and off the field.
Finally, you need to work on your touches, particularly your first touch and make sure they are all crisp. And that goes for every aspect of your game that you may be lacking in. If there is an area you are not particularly strong in, then you need to work those until you are fundamentally sound in every part of your game.
Tune in next week for my next entry with more Q&A. GO SOONERS!
