NORMAN, Okla. - The No. 2 Oklahoma men's gymnastics squad has ran its total to ten consecutive victories over No. 12 Nebraska with a 217.250-210.550 victory at the Devany Center on the NU Campus Saturday night. The Sooners remain perfect on the season at 6-0 and 1-0 in MPSF action, while Nebraska drops to 1-3 and 0-1 in league. The score is the highest of the season for OU and the third highest total in the country this season.

"We had a very solid meet and our score reflects that," said OU Head Coach Mark Williams. "Tonight was the spark of a team that can contend for the national championship. Our seniors have been tremendous all season. Brett Covery continues to score higher than anyone in the country on any event with his world class routine on rings. Daniel Furney is our team leader and it starts with his performances. He sets the tone for us in every meet."

Oklahoma swept the top spots in every event, with Senior Brett Covey leading the way with a 9.700 on still rings. Daniel Furney continued his impressive senior campaign, equaling Covey with a 9.700 on vault and a meet-high of 9.350 on the high bar. Furney collected four first place finishes. Furney also posted a third team-high on floor with a 9.200 and take the all-around title with a 54.800. Furney's 9.700 on vault was career high and tied the school record of Jock Stevens.

Sophomore Josh Gore took the top spot on pommel horse with a 9.100 score and finshed second on high bar with a 9.050. David Henderson rounded out the OU event winners with a 9.000 on parallel bars. Junior Heath Mueller made his his season debut and scored a 52.250 in the all-around.

Oklahoma claimed 14 of the top 21 spots in the individual events and the all-around.

"Penn State has set the tone for every team so far this season," said Williams. "They are ranked No. 1 right now and we need to get our scores up even more. We will continue to work at it, but in the same light this team will be much better and complete when the NCAA's roll around."

OU extended the nation's longest active streak of 22 consecutive victories over collegiate opponents.

A select number of Sooners will be traveling to the individual only Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Nev., on Feb. 7-8. OU opens the home schedule with a coed dual meet against Iowa Feb.14, at 7 p.m. inside the Lloyd Noble Center. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children.
