NORMAN, Okla.-Oklahoma volleyball has a couple losing streaks on the line going into Tuesday's home matchup against Oral Roberts. One is a season-starting four game skid and the other is a three match losing streak to ORU. Both streaks could end Tuesday at 7 p.m. when the Sooners host the Golden Eagles at Howard McCasland Field House.
"You always get up for games against regional rivals," said OU Head Coach Kalani Mahi. "We played our best match of the season against Arkansas last week. If we improve on that we should come away victorious."
Oral Roberts leads the all-time series 25-17, most recently beating the Sooners in consecutive sets last season at home.
Sophomore Candice Woods has been the most consistent Sooner of late. The middle blocker led Oklahoma in kills against Arkansas with 10 (10K - 3E - 17TA) and against the OU alumni with 16 (16-3-29). Over those two matches she hit at .435.
Oral Roberts is currently 4-2, with both losses at the hands of top-10 teams. The Golden Eagles lost to No. 5 Long Beach State in three sets and No. 6 Florida in four sets. ORU has upset victories over BYU and Baylor.
Also on the schedule this week is Oklahoma's second tournament of the season, the Ewing-Grover Olds/GMC Invitational at Tulsa University Sept. 13-14.
Admission to Tuesday's Oral Roberts Match is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12 years of age. OU students with a valid student I.D. are admitted free. The first 50 fans in attendance will receive an OU cd case.
