Tradition Begins As 2002 Version Knocks Off Oklahoma Volleyball Alumni Squad

Norman, Okla.- The 2002 Oklahoma volleyball team knocked off a team of past Sooners in four sets Saturday morning in a prelude to the tradition rich home season opener for the football team against Alabama. This year's team beat the alums 31-29, 30-24, 20-30, 30-16 inside the OU McClasland Field House.

Sophomores Candice Woods and Christina Barlow led OU with 16 and 15 kills, respectively. Woods also topped the team with an impressive .448 (16 K - 3E - 29 TA) hitting percentage, a match high while Barlow hit .273 (15-6-33).

Seniors Denise Griffin and Lindsay Hoyt led the Sooners with 10 digs apiece. Hoyt also recorded a match-high four service aces, which was equaled by fellow senior Jessica Barney. Freshman Jennifer Adams led OU in blocks, one solo and four block assists.

Oklahoma returns to regular season action on Tues., Sept. 10 against regional rival Oral Roberts at 7 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children under 12 years of age. OU students with a valid I.D. is admitted free.
