Baylor
Since the program's inception in 1996, the Bears are a sparkling 44-9-4 at home. Baylor lost four times at home in 1999 and twice in 2001. In the team's other four seasons, Baylor has lost only one game per year at home. Freshman goalie Tanya Sena shut out Louisiana-Lafayette on opening day, making her the first Bear in school history to record a shutout in her first collegiate appearance - and she did it while playing with a cast on her right hand, thanks to a broken thumb. Baylor is 5-1-1 all-time in season home openers, and 5-2 all-time on opening day.

Colorado
Colorado's 3-0 win vs. Fresno State was its first at home since a 2-0 blanking over Texas Tech late in the 2000 season, first in Boulder under second-year head coach Bill Hempen. It was the Buffs' first 3-0 win since the '99 Buffs shutout Alabama-Birmingham in the third game of the season. The Buffs start the season 1-0, its first season-opening win since that '99 campaign. Freshman Fran Munnelly scored what would end up being the game-winning goal in the 11th minute of play versus Fresno State. It was the fifth quickest goal scored in Colorado history, quickest since the 2000 season. It marked the first time that a freshman notched the first goal of the season since Shawn Kenyon did so against Cal-State Bakersfield in the season-opener in 1996, CU's first season. In just under a half of play, senior Lindsey Galas became just the ninth player in program history to record a multiple-goal game, notching her first and second of the season, fourth and fifth of her career, and second against a Fresno State team (her first AT FSU a year ago).

Iowa State
Iowa State interim head coach Rebecca Hornbacher recorded her first two collegiate coaching wins at the Falcon Invitational. The Cyclones' wins over Air Force and Gonzaga mark the first 2-0 start in school history. ISU's win over Air Force was the first road victory for the Cyclones since a 3-2 triumph at Texas Tech, Oct. 20, 2000.

Kansas
KU's win over Boston was the first overtime win in school history. Freshman Caroline Smith's goal was also the first overtime goal in Jayhawk history. With a goal and an assist so far in two games this season, sophomore Monica Brothers has moved up to sixth all-time in KU's points list. Kansas is 2-2 all-time vs. Ole Miss and 1-0 vs. Mississippi State. All of the Jayhawks' goals have been scored by freshmen (Caroline Smith, 2) and sophomores (Brothers and Rachel Gilfillan).

Missouri
The Tigers defeated No. 23 Illinois 2-1 in a double-overtime victory. Freshmen Amber Swinehart and Erica Pusch scored goals for Missouri. Goalkeeper Megan Duncan played 226 minutes and made 12 saves with a 1-1 weekend record. Erica Pusch and Lacy Moore were both named to the Nike Tiger Invitational All-Tournament team.

Nebraska
The 10th-ranked Huskers tied No. 2 North Carolina in the adidas Invitational opener. Junior Christy Harms scored the first goal of the season only 1:55 into the game. The Huskers played solid defense throughout, but Allysa Ramsey scored for the Tar Heels on a free kick at the 72:28 mark to knot the game at 1-1. Nebraska set a new attendance record at the Abbott Sports Complex with 4,830 fans. The Huskers defeated Wisconsin, 1-0, in the adidas Invitational finale Sunday night. Christine Latham scored the game-winning goal at the 29:21 mark going one-on-one with Wisconsin's goalkeeper, Kelly Conway. Latham's first goal of the season was a monumental one, giving her the Nebraska school record for career goals at 54, surpassing former Husker, Kim Engesser, as well as the career record for game-winning goals at 16. She is also just 12 points shy of tying the Nebraska career record for points set by Meghan Anderson last season.

Oklahoma State
Oklahoma State captured the 2002 Mazzio's Oklahoma Shootout title on Sunday night. The Cowgirls defeated Oral Roberts and Tulsa, then edged Oklahoma by one point in goal differential to win the tie-breaker. Three Cowgirls: forward Kim Graves, midfielder Krista Dedmon and goalkeeper Kat Doud were named to the all-tournament squad. Cowgirl junior Kim Graves garnered a goal in both games, including the game winner in the Tulsa contest. Oklahoma State's win over Tulsa, head coach Karen Hancock's alma mater, was the first in program history. The Cowgirls are now 1-2-0 against the Golden Hurricane all-time.

Texas
With two victories to begin the 2002 campaign, Texas started a season with an unblemished 2-0 record for the first time since 1999. Over its first two matches, UT outshot its opposition in the second half by a combined 25-10 margin. The Longhorns' defense did not allow a goal in its first two matches until 3:31 left in its victory over Duke. They also held New Mexico without a shot for the entire second half of the 2002 season opener. Sophomore Kelly McDonald has now scored at least one point in all four of Texas' matches so far in 2002 (two exhibiton and two regular season contests). With her two goals in the season opener versus New Mexico, junior Kylee Wosnuk not only posted her third career multiple-goal game, but notched her eighth career game-winning score to tie the school career mark in that category. She has also scored at least one point in seven of her last 12 games. Goalkeepers Alex Gagarin and Darci Carruthers split time in both of the Longhorns' contests to start the 2002 season and played 45 minutes during each match.

Texas A&M
On the season the Aggies have outshot their opponents, 51-16. Freshman goalkeeper Katie Jo Spisak played all 194:03 of the first two matches, allowing just two goals (0.93 GAA).The Aggies played last weekend's matches without the services of starting midfielder Heather Ragsdale and starting center back Jessica Martin. Freshman midfielder Carrie Berend scored the first goal of the season for the Aggies in the game against Rice Friday night and added an assist in Sunday's match against SMU. Eleven of A&M's 16 points this season have come from a freshman or sophomore. That is not hard to believe when you realize that 16 of the 23 players on the roster are freshmen or sophomores. Junior midfielder Kristen Strutz scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime period against SMU.

Texas Tech
After finishing with only nine points in the 2001 season, Junior midfielder Kerri Campbell has posted four points (1 G, 2 A) in the first two game of this season. In the off-season, the Red Raiders signed one of the largest recruiting classes in school history and start the season with 13 freshmen and one transfer on the roster. The newcomers are already paying dividends this season. Against Colgate, freshmen Allison Horn, Karen Stephens, Mariah Gutknecht, and sophomore Nicole Frilot saw playing time. Stephens scored with 20 seconds remaining in the game to give Tech a 2-1 lead. In the Syracuse game, Horn and Stephens drew their first collegiate starts. Gutknecht also saw action in the match. After an injury to starting goalie, Lindsay Fish, freshman Beth Lippert came on in relief to make nine saves and get the win in goal. The 2-0 start is only the third in school history and the first since 1996, when the team won a school record 13 games.
