NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team placed fourth at the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., today. The Sooners shot a 304 today and finished with a three-round total of 901, 10 strokes behind tournament champion and host New Mexico. The 19-team field played at the 6,069-yard, par-73 University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course.
OU junior Lisa Meldrum continued her stellar play this fall with a total of 211 to share medalist honors with Pepperdine's Katherine Hull. Meldrum carded a two-below-par 71 today to notch her first career tournament win. Senior Allison Johnson shot a 77 for a total of 221 to tie for 11th place. Sophomore Emily Milberger posted a 76 to finish tied for 28th with 231 total strokes while junior Hope Edge tied for 36th after recording an 80 and a three-round total of 234. Freshman Cathryn Uselton shot an 87 and tied for 100th place with a total of 259.
The Sooners, who were the top-finishing Big 12 school at the Dick McGuire (besting Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M and Texas Tech) will return to action Oct. 7-9 at the New Mexico State Invitational in Las Cruces, N.M.
