Griffin Named Co-SBC Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma running back Quentin Griffin has been named the co-SBC Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Sooners' 37-0 win at Tulsa, Friday.

Griffin rushed 17 times for a career-high 237 yards, the 13th-highest rushing total in school history. He also notched a career-best running gain of 50 yards while averaging 13.9 yards per carry. The senior caught two passes to extend his school record for receptions in consecutive games to 28 and to move into 10th place in Big 12 career catches with 113.

OU rushed for 378 yards, the highest total in Bob Stoops' tenure with the Sooners.

Griffin shared the weekly honor with Missouri quarterback Brad Smith. He had 290 yards of total offense in the Tigers' 33-20 win over Illinois.

Texas LB Derrick Johnson was the defensive player of the week, while the special teams honor went to Nebraska CB DeJuan Groce. Johnson posted 12 tackles (seven solo), three tackles for loss (-9 yards) and three QB pressures as Texas downed North Texas, 27-0. Groce returned two punts for touchdowns against Troy Satte for touchdowns, including an 83-yarder in the second quarter and a 72-yard TD in the third quarter to set school and Big 12 game records and tied the NCAA mark-most recently by Eddie Tillitz of Miami (Ohio) in 2000.
