OU Women's Golf Team Ties for Ninth Place at Fall Preview

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team recorded the third-lowest score of the day and finished tied for ninth place at the NCAA Fall Preview held in West Lafayette, Ind. The Sooners shot a 300 today and tied with Pepperdine and Southern California with a three-round total of 920. The team finished 31 strokes behind tournament champion Arizona on the 6,225-yard, par-72 Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course.
Junior Lisa Meldrum shot a one-under-par 71 today for a total score of 220 that earned her a fourth-place finish. Senior Allison Johnson tied for 35th place with a score of 230 while junior Hope Edge finished tied for 48th with a total score of 233. Sophomore Emily Milberger posted a score of 237 to tie her for 62nd place. Freshman Cathryn Uselton, playing in her first collegiate tournament, placed 89th with a total of 257.
The NCAA Fall Preview consisted of 18 of the 24 teams that competed in last year's NCAA Championships. The tournament featured nine of the top 10 women's teams according to Golfweek. The tournament was played at the same course that the 2003 National Championships will be held in the spring.
