Women's Golf Team In 16th Place After First Round In Indiana

NORMAN, Okla. - In its first action since finishing sixth at last year's NCAA Championships, the University of Oklahoma women's golf team is in 16th place at the NCAA Fall Preview in West Lafayette, Ind., after shooting a 314 today in first-round action. The Sooners are 27 strokes behind first-place Oklahoma State.
The tournament is being played at the 6,225-yard, par-72 Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course and features 18 of the 24 teams that competed in last year's NCAA Championships.
Junior Lisa Meldrum leads the Sooners after shooting a 75 today and is tied for 25th. Junior Hope Edge is tied for 45th aftter carding a 77. Sophomore Emily Milberger is tied for 67th after a round of 80 while senior Allison Johnson shot an 82 and is tied for 74th place. Freshman Cathryn Uselton is in 88th place after a score of 89 in her first collegiate action.
The Sooners will resume play at 8 a.m. Monday and the tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
