Stoops Likes SI Cover

"It's a positive thing to be on a magazine that is front of a lot of people," he said. "It's another compliment to what we're doing. I guess people respect the way we've recruited, the way we've coached, the attitude of our team and the way we've played. We're appreciative (of the attention)."

Of the jinx, Stoops said, "That doesn't matter to me a bit."

Sooners Add Another Kicker

OU added another placekicker Tuesday in walk-on Matt Fannuzzi, a 5-11, 187-pound, freshman from San Antonio, Tex. Fannuzzi was a two-year starter at Churchill High School.

As a senior, Fannuzzi made 48-of-50 point after touchdown kicks. His longest field goal came from 49 yards. He also played defense and was all-conference at that position. Fannuzzi played in San Antonio All-Star game.

The Sooners have four kickers in camp with Trey DiCarlo, Pete Cuva, Steven Sarubbi and Fannuzzi. Sarubbi is a junior, the other three are freshman.

Stoops Compliments Newcomers

OU head coach Bob Stoops has seen his newcomers workout four times over Monday and Tuesday and gives the incoming Sooners very high marks.

"It's a very talented group," he said. "By far and away in our four years here it's the most talented group. The size, the ability, the way the run around I'm move, I'm really pleased with them. They're an awfulyl bright group. I just don't think there's any question that this is the most talented group that we've had."
