Sooners On Cover Of The Sporting News

Norman, Okla. - For the second time in as many weeks, the Oklahoma Sooners are featured on the cover of a national magazine's college football preview editions. This time, it's The Sporting News, which shows defensive linemen Jimmy Wilkerson and Tommie Harris. The photo was shot at a rural location north of Norman on July 17.

Inside the magazine, another photo features Harris, Wilkerson, Jason White, Andre Woolfolk and several of the OU Ruf Neks aboard the Sooner Schooner.

The Sporting News picks Oklahoma as the No. 1 team in college football.

Last week, Sports Illustrated featured Harris on its cover and also rated the Sooners No. 1. ESPN, The Magazine was in Norman for a photo shoot during July, as well, and is considering that picture of Harris and Jason White for one of its four regional covers.

OU should be ranked highly in another poll due out Friday, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) poll. This marks the first year that the FWAA has issued its own national rankings.
