NORMAN, Okla. - An early morning rainstorm delayed the beginning of Oklahoma's practice week, but the Sooner football team still hit the field twice on Monday to concentrate on their preseason workouts. Following a 30 minute rain delay, the team completed their two hour morning practice and welcomed clear skies for their evening workout.

"I really liked the guys' intensity and the tempo of the practice. I thought we got a lot done," expressed Head Coach Bob Stoops following the morning session.

After three full days of two-a-day practices, Stoops does not see any signs of the team slowing down in their workouts.

"I don't think we're very fatigued right now and, for the most part, mentally we're pretty sharp."

Update On The Offense

Speaking on the offense, Stoops commented that the unit is just working on implementing their offense at this point.

"Every day we add a few plays and we're polishing up the ones they've already been working on already."

Stoops also admitted his pleasure on the progress and hard work of the offensive line.

"I really like their attitude, the way their playing and the progress they've been making. They've still got a ways to go, but I really like the way they're working to improve right now and I think they are," said Stoops.

Converting On Field Goals

On Sunday, the team's field goal unit practiced in the stadium with each of the three kickers rotating on kicking opportunities. From distances within 37 yards, the trio converted on 14 of 15 field goals and from within 42 yards, they were 19 of 21. The kicks were all successfully made with a full rush.

"They did a good job and I'm very pleased with them, so we'll keep working at it," commented Stoops on the outcome of the drill.

Future Practice Plans

Tuesday's morning practice (at the intramural practice fields) will be run in full pads for the first time this fall before changing to pads and shorts in the evening. A scrimmage will tentatively be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
