Men's Gymnasts To Visit State Capitol, President Boren's House

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma men's gymnastics team, the 2002 national champions, were invited to the state capitol on Tuesday, May 7, at 1:30 p.m. to be recognized by the House of Representatives. Several representatives from the OU women's basketball team, which finished second in the nation, will be in attendance as well.

On Tuesday evening, the gymastics team will dine at President David Boren's house. Head coach Mark Williams, who was named National Coach of the Year, led his team not on to the national championship but to a first place finish in the conference and the three highest scores in the nation. The 2002 crown marks OU's fourth, with the others coming in 1977, 1978 and 1991. The Sooners finished the year with a 22-1 record.
