Mark Williams Earns USA Gymnastics Service Award

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma men's gymnastics head coach Mark Williams, who led his team to the 2002 national championship, was recognized this week at the Men's Junior Olympic National Championships with a "Fifteen Year Service" award from USA Gymnastics, the national governing body of the sport.

"Mark has worked at every level of the sport in this country," said USA Gymnastics junior program coordinator Bo Morris. "He has show tireless devotion to the sport and USA Gymnastics."

Williams is in San Diego, Calif., this week to observe competition at the championships. One of OU's 2002 recruits and one of the nation's top gymnasts, Curtis O'Rorke, will be competing at the championships, while another future Sooner and younger brother of David Henderson, Jamie Henderson, will be representing the USA at the Pacific Alliance Championships in Vancouver, Canada.
