Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma's football team, after postponing Monday's scheduled workout due to wet grounds, was back Tuesday for a two and one-half hour practice in Memorial Stadium.

It was the first practice for the Sooners since the spring's first major scrimmage and OU head coach Bob Stoops liked the way his team learned from Friday's action.

"This was another very good practice," he said. "The guys seem to be understanding the adjustments in the alignments and we're not seeing the same mistakes over and over."

OU worked some on special teams Tuesday with punter Blake Ferguson handling some of the placements.

"I didn't know he was that good at (kicking placements)," Stoops said of Ferguson. "We didn't do much with range, but if you're solid from close in, that's the important thing."

After practice Stoops announced that Wednesday's practice will include a 50-60-play scrimmage. He also said that Saturday's workout will be a scrimmage. That practice is set for 10 a.m. Both scrimmages will be held in Memorial Stadium. Spectators should enter through Gate 11 at the northwest corner of the stadium.

Also on Tuesday, the Charlotte (N.C.) Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association of America announced their first watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Award, which is presented annually to the nation's best defensive player. The 35-player list included Oklahoma players Jimmy Wilkerson, Derrick Strait and Andre Woolfolk.

Last year, OU's Roy Williams won the Nagurski Award.
