NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma Athletics Ticket Office will sell 2002 football and 2002-03 men's basketball season tickets to currently enrolled full-time OU students (Category I students) from April 29-May 10. An additional sale for new students enrolled for the 2002 fall semester (Category II students) will take place from May 13-August 23. Tickets for both sales may be purchased at the OU ticket office (southwest corner of Memorial Stadium) or online here at www.soonersports.com.
Category I students will be given the opportunity to purchase from 6,800 available football tickets on a first-come, first-served basis beginning April 29. Category II students will be allocated 1,200 football tickets (plus any tickets remaining from the Category I sale) and may begin requesting tickets on May 13. If demand exceeds supply for the Category II sale, a lottery will be held prior to Aug. 26 to determine who will receive tickets. One thousand of those tickets will be available to incoming freshmen while 200 will be designated for transfer students.
The student football ticket pick-up policy that was in effect for the 2001-02 season will remain the same for the 2002-03 season. Each student must pick up a hard ticket in order to be admitted into the stadium. Students must have both a hard ticket and their OU student ID to enter the gates. Hard tickets may be picked up between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, and between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesday during the week of each home game. A student may only pick up a ticket for that week's game and any unclaimed tickets will go on sale to OU students on the Thursday of game week.
OU-Texas and away game football tickets will go on sale to OU student season ticketholders only during a separate fall sale.
As in the past, 2,500 student season tickets will be available for the 2002-03 men's basketball season. Of the 2,500 tickets, 2,125 will be allocated for Category I students on a first-come, first-served basis, while 375 (plus any remaining from the Category I sale) will be made available during the Category II sale. If demand exceeds supply at the end of the Category II sale, a lottery will be held to determine which students will receive tickets for the 2002-03 basketball season.
Dates and times for men's basketball ticket distribution will be determined and sent to student e-mail accounts during the fall semester.
Football season tickets cost $85 each while men's basketball season tickets cost $80 each. All ticket transactions will be placed on students' bursar accounts and all charges will appear at the beginning of the 2002 fall semester. All students must have a valid student ID at the point of sale and a $3 charge will be levied for students purchasing via the Internet.
In order to better serve the student body at the Norman and Oklahoma City Health Sciences Center campuses, OU is offering online ticket sales for the first time ever. While a $3 fee will be associated with the service, students won't have to wait in line or navigate around Memorial Stadium construction. To purchase tickets online, students should log on to www.soonersports.com and click on the "OU Students Click Here for Tickets" graphic that will appear on the left side of the page. A student ID number will be requested before the registration process begins.
Students who desire to purchase tickets at the OU ticket office should enter the stadium through Gate 11 on the northwest corner near the Armory.
