Norman, Okla. - University of Oklahoma head football coach Bob Stoops announced Tuesday that Hunter Wall has been dismissed from the Sooner football team. The announcement came following OU's fourth spring practice.

"Hunter Wall has been permanently removed from the football team," Stoops said. "This is for violations of team policies throughout the semester. We've had other incidents that I'm not going to discuss. He was removed for a while in the winter and allowed some other chances. He's not going to be a part of this team anymore."

Wall, a quarterback before being moved to tight end this spring, was not in attendance at Tuesday's practice.

Tuesday's two and one-half hour practice took place amid chilly temperatures and a strong north wind, but Stoops still liked what he saw. He made special note of inside linebacker Lance Mitchell, a junior college transfer who reminds the coach of another standout transfer.

"Lance (Mitchell) with that number 10 and that body looks just like Torrance (Marshall) standing in there, and to be honest, in his first four days, is by far and away ahead of where Torrance was," Stoops said.

Oklahoma will practice in full pads on Wednesday and Friday and will then scrimmage in Memorial Stadium at 10 a.m., Saturday, weather permitting. All are open to the public.
