Sooner Football Scrimmage Features More Positives

Norman, Okla. - In contrast to last weekend's gray skies, a beautiful day shined above Oklahoma's football practice, Wednesday, and both the offense and defense had their moments in the sun.

The last 90 minutes of the workout featured a 42-play scrimmage. The defense dominated early, racking up six sacks, before the offense finally got into the end zone twice on a pair of passes from Brent Rawls to Brandon Jones. Once covered 75 yards, the other 21.

Rawls completed 7-of-9 passes for 188 yards. Nate Hybl was 6-of-10 for 72 yards.

Quentin Griffin was again sharp at running back. He carried three times for 43 yards and a scrimmage-long burst of 25 yards.

On defense, Jonathan Jackson had five tackles and three sacks.

OU will practice again Friday at 3:45 p.m. The team is scheduled for another major scrimmage Saturday at 10 a.m.

In related news, the Charlotte (N.C.) Touchdown Club and the Football Writers released an amended list of players for the Nagurski Watch list, Wednesday. The new list, in addition to Sooner player's Derrick Strait, Jimmy Wilkerson and Andre Woolfolk, also included OU defensive lineman Tommie Harris.
