Women's Golf Team In Fifth Place Going Into Final Round

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team is in fifth place after the first two rounds of the Central District Invitational at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Fla. The 29th-ranked Sooners shot rounds of 303 and 299, which puts them 14 strokes off the leader and tournament host No. 13 Michigan State.
Junior Allison Johnson leads the team in sixth place with rounds of 71 and 76. Johnson, who is ranked as the 58th best player in the nation by Golfstat, placed in the top 12 in every fall tournament in 2001. Sophomore Lisa Meldrum trails Johnson by three strokes and is currently in 19th place after shooting consecutive rounds of 75. Freshman Emily Milberger is in 23rd place with rounds of 77 and 74, she is currently seven strokes off the lead. Senior Wendy Martin is tied for 36th place with a score of 154 and fellow senior Jennifer Tannehill is in 60th place with a score of 161.
The Sooners will conclude tournament play with the final 18 holes in a shotgun start Tuesday at 8 a.m.
