Los Angeles, Calif. - Oklahoma's football team, which arrived in the Los Angeles area on Christmas night, conducted its first practice in California, Thursday, on the campus of Loyola Marymount. Sunny skies and temperatures in the low 60's greeted the team.
The two-hour workout took place on LMU's soccer field. This marks the first year that the school has hosted one of the Rose Bowl participants.
"This is a nice facility and the people here have been very accomodating," said OU head coach Bob Stoops. "We got in a good, solid workout today. It was a good start to our game week."
The Rose Bowl Committee had goal posts brought in for the practice in converting the soccer field to a football practice facility. The field also has been striped and numbered.
The only notable Sooner missing from the practice was defensive tackle Tommie Harris, whose flight arrived in California on Thursday afternoon. Several of the players rejoin the team following a brief holiday break by taking flights from close to their home areas.
Following Thursday's practice, the linemen, linebackers and tight ends went through a strength workout in a tented weight room that has been erected just off the practice field. The Sooners also have a tented dining area on the site.
