Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma's Tommie Harris and Teddy Lehman have been named first team All-America by the Associated Press. Quentin Griffin and Brandon Everage nabbed second team honors.
Everage was named a first team All-American earlier this season by the American Football Coaches Association. The NCAA recognizes seven organizations in determining All-America teams. Both the AP and AFCA are among those seven, which means the Sooners have three more All-Americans this season and a total of 131 all-time.
Harris, a sophomore defensive tackle, was a finalist for the Lombardi and Bednarik Awards. He also was named first-team all-America by the Walter Camp Foundation and the AFCA. Lehman, a finalist for the Butkus Award, also picked up All-America honors from Walter Camp, the Football Writers Association of Amierca, The Sporting News and CNNSI. ABC named the junior linebacker its Chevrolet Defensive Player of the Year.
Griffin, a senior, was a finalist as for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award and was a consensus All-Big 12 selection. Everage, a junior safety, also was concensus All-Big 12.
Oklahoma had two of the five Big 12 players named to the first team and only Ohio State had more first-team selections with three.
