Griffin, Shelby Snag Big 12 Honors

Norman, Okla. - Oklahoma's Quentin Griffin and Brandon Shelby have been named SBC Big 12 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their efforts in the Sooners' 60-15 win over Texas Tech, Saturday. The victory secured the Big 12 South championship for OU.

Griffin, a senior from Humble, Texas, rushed 31 times for 207 yards and three touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 27 yards.

Shelby, a sophomore from Kansas City, Mo., had a six tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and a blocked punt that Oklahoma recovered for a touchdown. The Sooners held Texas Tech to season lows in total yards (236), passing yards (224), rushing yards (12)and first downs (10). The Sooners also held Tech 23.9 points below its scoring average.

Red Raider quartebrack Kliff Kingsbury entered the game completing 68% of his passes, but hit on just 15-of-35 with two interceptions. His average yards per game was 371.2, but he got just 187 vs. OU.

This marks the eighth and ninth time this season that Oklahoma players have won the weekly Big 12 honors, which are selected by a three-member media panel.
