Quentin Griffin's 62-yard touchdown sprint on the Sooners' second possession of the game was the longest TD run of his career. His previous long was a 53-yard scamper for a touchdown at Missouri earlier this season. Griffin's longest career run was 63 yards against Colorado on Nov. 2. It was also Griffin's fifth run over 50 yards this season.
Jimmy Wilkerson sacked Kliff Kingsbury in the endzone for the Sooners' first safety since the Alabama game. It was Wilkerson's fourth sack of the season and the junior's first safety.
Oklahoma held Texas Tech without a first down for nearly the first 16 minutes of the game. The Red Raiders finally moved the sticks at 14:10 in the second quarter. The Sooners were up by a score of 16-0.
With two touchdowns tonight and 13 on the season, Kejuan Jones (Jenks, Okla.) moved into a tie with Marcus Dupree (1983) and Buddy Leake (1951) for most touchdowns by a freshman in the program's history.
With 207 yards, Quentin Griffin recorded his seventh consecutive 100-yard rushing game (ninth of the season and 13th career). Additionally, it's the fourth 200-yard rushing game of his career, tying him with Mike Gaddis for No. 3 on the OU career list.
Late in the first half, sophomore punter Blake Ferguson (Broken Arrow, Okla.) pinned Tech at the four-yard line. It marked the fifth punt he's placed inside the opponent's five-yard line this season.
In the same series early in the third quarter, sophomore Brandon Shelby (Kansas City, Mo.) recorded his fourth sack of the season (a school record by a DB -- tied Roy Williams) and blocked a punt that was recovered for a touchdown by Will Peoples.
The blocked punt for a touchdown was the second by the Sooners under Bob Stoops and the 14th special teams touchdown (eighth in the last 24 games) of the Stoops era.
On his third touchdown of the night, Quentin Griffin moved into third on the Oklahoma career rushing touchdown list.
