NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma volleyball team was defeated 30-20, 30-25, 30-23 by No. 19 Kansas State Wednesday night inside the Ahearn Field House in Manhattan, Kan. "We played very well tonight, definitely better than the final scores indicate," said OU Head Coach Kalani Mahi. "I really thought we controlled games one and two. We passed and dug the ball very well all night. It was great to see Lindsay Hoyt and Sheena Werling step into the front line and give very solid contributions."

Senior outside hitter Megan O'Connell led the OU offensive attack with 14 kills. O'Connell hit .333 (14K-3E-33TA), as did sophomore middle blocker Candice Woods who collected eight kills and four block assists. Sophomore Sheena Werling killed nine balls and hit .125 (9-5-32). As a team the Sooners recorded a season high 55 digs and 142 total attacks. Oklahoma pounded out 41 kills, which is the second highest three game total of the season. OU hit .155 (41-19-142), its highest total in the last four matches.

"I am very proud of the team for the way they fought tonight, " said Mahi. "The numbers show that we played extremely well. While a defeat is never acceptable. We definitely have some things that we can build on in our next two matches."

Cari Jensen led K-State with 19 kills, while Lauren Goehring dropped in 14 kills as well. Gabby Guerre recorded a double-double for the Wildcats with 11 kills and 11 digs.
