NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma volleyball team stayed true to its form of late by saving its best effort for the third game. Despite OU's win in the third game, the No. 21 Missouri Tigers prevailed, 30-22, 30,17, 24-30, 30-20 inside the Howard McCasland Field House tonight. The Tigers improved to 20-4 (9-3 Big 12), while OU fell to 4-17 (2-11 Big 12).

"We played excellent defense at the net tonight but our defensive passing wasn't up to par, " said OU Head Coach Kalani Mahi. "I was very encouraged by our effort. We played with them the entire match."

OU was led by junior outside hitter Christina Barlow, who collected 11 kills in the final two games and a team-high 15 in the match. Sophomore middle blocker Candice Woods dropped in 13 kills and three block assists. Freshman middle blocker Jennifer Mosso assisted on an OU season-high nine blocks. OU registered a season high 24 block assists on the night. Senior Denise Griffin dug 11 balls and junior Yvette Villanueva dug an OU career-high 14 balls.

Missouri had 16 aces, while the Sooners collected four. Freshman Shen Danru had five aces for Mizzou and a match-highs kills (21) and digs (15). Mary Lauren Smith and Christi Meyers each contributed 13 kills for the Tigers.

The loss marks the ninth consecutive defeat for OU.

OU returns to Big 12 action on Wednesday, Nov. 6, when the Sooners travel to Iowa State. OU swept Iowa State in its Big 12 opener, Sept. 18. Oklahoma returns home next weekend, for a Saturday evening match up with Texas Tech at 7 inside the Howard McCasland Field House.
