NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma volleyball team was defeated 30-21, 30-22, 30-20, by Texas Wednesday night in front of 504 fans at the Howard McCasland Field House. The loss leaves the Sooners alone in ninth place in the Big 12 with a 3-13 (5-19 overall) conference record . Texas improved to 10-7 (19-7 overall) in conference action and remains tied with Texas A&M for fourth place. OU has lost two consecutive matches, while the Longhorns snapped a three match losing streak.

"We fought hard tonight," said OU Head Coach Kalani Mahi. "We did a good job of executing our game plan. Unfortunately we allowed Texas to go on some significant serving runs in each game and that killed us. I though Christina Barlow and Megan O'Connell played awesome tonight. They remained aggressive and took good swings the entire match."

O'Connell led Oklahoma with 12 kills and 13 digs, for her second double-double of the season. O'Connell only had two attack errors in 30 attempts on the night. Barlow and freshman Sheena Werling had eight kills apiece. Barlow also collected eight digs.

"Texas' blockers kept us guessing all night," said Mahi. "They played very well and outblocked us, which was one of the keys to the match."

Texas recorded 16 block assists and four solo blocks, while OU had two block assists.

Outside hitter Mira Topic led Texas with 12 kills and eight digs. Junior libero Stacy Millichap recorded a game-high 15 digs. Sophomore Kanthy Hahn killed 10 balls.

"We have to continue to improve, work hard and become more consistent," said Mahi. "Our passing hurt us again and that is an area we will focus on before going to Nebraska. I was very happy with our serving. We served aggresively, which took them out of their offense at times."

Oklahoma travels to No. 4 Nebraska this weekend for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Cornhuskers inside the N.U. Coliseum. OU takes to the Field House court again on Sat., Nov. 23 for the final home match of the season and "Senior Day" against Colorado at 2 p.m. Admission to the home season finale will be free for all fans.
