NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team will compete in the Prices Give'em Five Intercollegiate tournament Oct. 7-9. The tournament is being played at the 6,303-yard, par-72 University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.
The three-day event will be formatted with 18 holes played each day. Monday and Tuesday rounds will begin at 7:30 a.m. and Wednesday's shotgun start will be at 8 a.m.
Competing for the Sooners will be Hope Edge, Allison Johnson, Lisa Meldrum, Emily Milberger and Erin Goranson. It will mark Goranson's first tournament.
The 19-team field will consist of Arkansas State, Baylor, Michigan State, Northern Arizona, San Diego State, San Jose State, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas Christian, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Louisville, Nebraska, New Orleans, New Mexico, North Texas, Texas-El Paso, Arkansas-Little Rock, Nevada-Las Vegas and Western New Mexico.
Coach Ludvigson says...
"This tournament is so important because we are going head-to-head with 18 great teams and 12 of them are in our region. We need to really represent well. We always seem to play well in Las Cruces. We're looking to quit playing mediocre and hope to bring home a team title and an individual title."
Sooners Finish Fourth at Dick McGuire Invitational
The Oklahoma women's golf team placed fourth at the Dick McGuire Invitational held Sept. 26-28 in Albuquerque, N.M. The Sooners finished with a 901, just 10 strokes behind tournament champion and host New Mexico. The Sooners were the top-finishing Big 12 school at the tournament (besting Texas, Baylor, Texas A&M and Texas Tech).
Junior Lisa Meldrum continued to card outstanding rounds with a total of 211 (-8) to tie for first-place honors. Senior Allison Johnson tied for 11th place with a score of 225 while sophomore Emily Milberger tied for 28th with a 231. Junior Hope Edge recorded a 234 to tie for 36th place. Freshman Cathryn Uselton posted a score of 259 to tie for 100th place.
