Sooners battle Jawhawks on Fan Appreciation Night

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma volleyball team will look to make it two consecutive home victories over the Kansas Jayhawks when they battle Saturday night at 7 p.m., inside the Howard McCasland Field House. The first 250 fans in attendance will receive free trading cards as OU honors its supporters on "Fan Appreciation Night". Following the match the Sooners will hold an autograph session.

"We're excited about fan appreciation night and battling Kansas," said OU Head Coach Kalani Mahi. "Kansas has always been a big rival for us in volleyball. The two teams seem to bring the best out in each other during matches."

Leading Oklahoma offensively is Megan O'Connell who is averaging 3.23 kills per game, while hitting .246 (184K-65E-484TA). Senior setter Jessica Barney is expected to play after missing Wednesday's match against Texas Tech. Barney had minor knee surgery last week but is expected to return Saturday.

Oklahoma has struggled of late in Big 12 action, losing their last six contests. OU's current record is 4-14 and 2-8 in Big 12 play. Kansas is 14-5 overall and 5-5 in conference. Last season when Kansas visited Norman, Oklahoma sent the Jayhawks packing with its first defeat of the season.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children. OU students with valid student I.D.'s are admitted free.
