Freshman PK Trey DiCarlo nailed his seventh field goal of the season at 3:38 in the third quarter to cut the Texas lead to 17-14. Former Sooner R.D. Lasher holds the record for field goals by a freshman in a season with 10 in 1987.
Teddy Lehman's interception in the third quarter was the second of his career. Both have come against Texas quarterback Chris Simms. Lehman scored a touchdown on his first career INT in 2001 to clinch the game for Oklahoma, 14-3.
Senior RB Quentin Griffin scored his ninth career touchdown against Texas in the fourth quarter on a 17-yard run with 3:02 remaining. Griffin established the Oklahoma single game scoring record in the 2000 game with six touchdowns in the 63-14 Sooner victory. Griffin added another touchdown in the 14-3 Oklahoma win in 2001. Griffin finishes his Sooner career against Texas with nine touchdowns.
Antwone Savage's 118 yards in kickoff returns ranks as the fifth best in Sooner history.
Quentin Griffin's 248 yards rushing ranks second on the all-time Oklahoma list for a Sooner running back in the OU-Texas game. His total today ranks second to De'Mond Parker's 291 in 1997.

RB Quentin Griffin's 45-yard run in the first quarter marked the fifth rush covering more than 40 yards for the senior this season and the seventh 40+ rush of his career.
QB Nate Hybl had thrown 149 consecutive passes without an interception prior to the pick by Texas FS Dakarai Pearson in the first quarter. Hybl's streak dated back to last season and included the 2002 Cotton Bowl.
Chris Simms' 1-yard run for a touchdown at 4:49 in the first quarter marked the first TD for the Longhorns in the first quarter against the Oklahoma defense since 1998.
Quentin Griffin had nine carries for 117 yards (avg: 13 yards/carry) just 14 minutes into the game. Griffin's rushing total at that point had already surpassed his 114 combined yards in the past two games he's played against the Longhorns.
CB Andre Woolfolk's interception of a Chris Simms' pass late in the first quarter was the second of his career. The senior's first interception also came against Simms -- in the 2001 OU-Texas game.
CB Derrick Strait's interception at 11:07 in the second quarter was the second interception of the season for the junior and the seventh of his career. The pick was the seventh for OU against Simms and the eighth for the Sooners in the last three meetings.
FL Antwone Savage became the 21st Sooner in OU history to surpass 2,500 career all-purpose yards with his 104 yards in the first half against Texas. The senior started the game with 2,490 yards and finished with 131 all-purpose yards today to put him 2,621. That puts him 19th on the all-time Sooner charts.
Antwone Savage's 81-yard kick return late in the second quarter was the longest return ever by the Sooners against Texas. The previous OU kick return record against the Longhorns was 79 yards by Michael Thornton in 1998. Savage returned a kick for a career long 99n back a kick88 yards and a touchdown against North Carolina in the 2001 season opener. The 81-yarder is the ninth best ever for a Sooner against any opponent.
The Sooners trailed today at halftime, 14-11, the first time since the 1999 Independence Bowl when Ole Miss held a 21-3 advantage at the break.
TE Trent Smith's TD reception in the second quarter marked the first of the season for the senior and the first since his scored in the 2001 Nebraska game. The reception for a touchdown was the 12th of his career and moves Smith into a tie with Corey Warren (1990-93) for career receptions for a TD. Former Sooner great Keith Jackson holds the record with 14 career touchdown receptions from 1984-87.
With today's win, Coach Bob Stoops has won his last four games in the Cotton Bowl. His teams have won the last three Red River Shootouts and beat Arkansas 10-3 in the 2002 Cotton Bowl.
