NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma volleyball team, in the midst of three game losing streak, faces two consecutive ranked opponents, beginning with No. 23 Missouri, Saturday at 7 p.m. inside the Hearnes Center. Wednesday, Oct. 16, OU faces defending Big 12 champion and No. 5 Nebraska at 7 p.m. in the Howard McCasland Field House.
"Missouri is going to be a big challenge for us on the road," said OU Head Coach Kalani Mahi. "They are a very good team who is playing better than they have in many years."
Senior Megan O'Connell had perhaps the best night of her OU career Wednesday, when she collected 14 kills, nine digs and hit .367(14K-3E-30TA). Outside hitters Christina Barlow and Candice Woods has solid outings as well, recording nine kills apiece.
The Missouri Tigers ran off 12 straight wins before losing their last two matches on the road. Most recently they were swept by No. 5 Nebraska Wednesday night. Missouri is led by former national player of the week Mary Lauren Smith who is averaging 3.82 kills per game.
Oklahoma is currently 4-12 and 2-5 in Big 12 play. Missouri is 14-3 and 10-1 in conference.
The first 100 fans in attendance to the Oct. 16 match against Nebraska will receive free "OU Rally Rags". Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children. OU students with valid student I.D.'s receive free admission.
