NORMAN, Okla. - The 2001 Oklahoma volleyball team ended the Cowgirl Classic in Laramie, Wyo., with a 3-0 loss (30-15, 30-22, 30-14) to Idaho State. The Sooners are now 1-7 on the season while the Bengals move to 4-3.
OU was led by junior Lindsay Hoyt with five kills and seven digs. Freshman Emily Kincaid, playing in her third match of the season matched Hoyt with seven digs. The Sooners hit a tournament-low -.092 while the Bengals hit .231 for the match.
The Bengals outhustled the Sooners on defense with 47 digs compared to OU's 30. ISU's Melanie Tucker recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 13 digs.
The Sooners now prepare for Big 12 Conference action, opening their home stand at 7 p.m., Sept. 12, with No. 18 Texas A&M. OU also plays No. 23 Colorado at 2 p.m., Sept. 15, at the OU Field House.
