OU Head Coach Bob Stoops
"It was a win, but that's about all it was. I was really disappointed in our team's performance tonight. It's hard to think of anything good that happened in the game. With everything we did wrong, it's amazing that we won."
"We didn't play disciplined, smart football. It shows in things like three defensive offsides penalties and an interception returned for a touchdown called back because of blocking penalty 30 yards behind the player."
On the offense:
"We moved the ball very well in both halves but, unfortunately, there were several times we couldn't come away with any points. We went outside a lot because we saw their defense stunting and trying to take away Quentin's (Griffin) inside rushing."
On junior quarterback Nate Hybl:
"I saw some very good things out of Nate (Hybl) tonight. He's still learning, of course, but he was solid throughout the game."
On freshman Jonathan Jackson:
"He certainly has a knack for knocking the ball down. He was very impressive and we look for him to continue to improve."
OU Quarterback Nate Hybl:
"It's a little hard to reflect on it all now. I'll be interested to see the film of this game. We're disappointed in our effort and there are just a lot of things to improve on. We were horrible in the red zone and there were flags flying all over the place. It's kind of hard to judge until we see the film. Our execution was lacking."
"I'd say our third down percentage was real bad and that's what wins games. We missed a lot of opportunities but we're real close. We just have to keep getting better."
"We had two or three holding penalties and those are just drive-killers. Our guys were working hard on boundary blocking. We were able to toss it to 'Q' and Renaldo and, again, Quentin did a real nice job of catching passes out of the backfield. It's really nice to have that option."
"Wins are always hard to come by. We're disappointed in our execution but we're not hanging our heads on everything."
"North Texas had a nice game plan offensively."
OU Receiver Josh Norman:
On his 57-yard TD catch:
"The guys just blocked really well. I finally got my feet under me and I was able to take it to the house. It was an exciting play. We anticipated all week that they'd play a lot of cover-two (defense) so that play was something we worked on."
"It was a full team effort tonight. There are 10 other guys on the field, other than me, and it was good. But we still have to get better. We always have to keep improving."
"We did block well at some points. We got caught holding a couple times and missed some blocks. For the running backs to keep making big plays, we have to get better in that area."
