  • Terrance Simms made his first career start as a Sooner after coming off of an injury and redshirt freshman Mark Clayton started with the Sooner offense in the second half.
  • North Texas kicker Jason Ball kicked a 38-yard field goal at 11:59 of the first quarter to make the score, 3-0. It was the first time OU has trailed in a game this season. The last time OU trailed in a game before tonight was in the second quarter of the 2000 Big 12 Championship game vs. Kansas State, 10-3.
  • OU's last opponent to score on its opening drive was Nebraska, on Oct. 28, 2000.
  • North Texas also scored first and held a lead (7-0) in the last meeting between the schools on Sept. 5, 1998. OU went on to win the game, 37-9.
  • Chris Toney's 19-yard reception in the first quarter was the longest of his career.
  • Running back Quentin Griffin has now caught at least one pass in 21 consecutive games, spanning his entire career as a Sooner.
  • Griffin set career highs with 111 yards on 10 receptions tonight. His previous career highs were 65 yards on eight receptions (with a TD) vs. Ole Miss in the 1999 Independence Bowl.
  • Griffin became just the third Oklahoma running back to record more than 100 yards receiving in a game. The others were Greg Pruitt vs. Missouri in 1970 (108 yards) and Steve Sewell vs. Kansas State in 1984 (142).
  • Griffin's effort tonight marked the 47th time an OU player has racked up more than 100 yards receiving in a single game. Josh Norman's 128-yard effort is the 48th.
  • The last OU player to register more than 100 yards receiving in a game was Andre Woolfolk versus Baylor in 2000. He had seven catches for 110 yards that day.
  • Griffin and Josh Norman became just the fifth and sixth players to accumulate more than 100 yards receiving in a game in the Bob Stoops era.
  • Tonight marked just the third time in OU history that two Sooners have surpassed 100 yards receiving in the same game. The previous games in which such a feat occurred were: versus Tulsa in 1996 (Michael McDaniel, 108 yards, and Stephen Alexander, 102 yards) and versus Colorado in 1962 (Virgil Boll, 143 yards, and John Flynn, 128 yards).
  • Griffin's 13-yard TD reception in the first quarter was his first TD reception since the 1999 Independence Bowl vs. Ole Miss.
  • Griffin became the 34th Sooner to accumulate 2,000 career all-purpose yards tonight. It took him just 21 games to accomplish the feat. He finished tonight with 2,087 all-purpose yards on his career.
  • Tonight was Grifffin's sixth career game with at least two touchdowns. He has scored 24 touchdowns during his Sooner career.
  • Griffin tied the all-time school record for receptions in a game with 10. The previous record holders were: Jarrail Jackson vs. Ole Miss in 1999, Eddie Hinton vs. Oklahoma State in 1968 and Gordon Brown vs. Oklahoma State in 1965, all with 10 receptions.
  • Norman and tight end Trent Smith both surpassed the mark of 50 career receptions in tonight's game. They are the 22nd and 23rd OU players to ever reach that mark. Norman now has 55 catches while Smith has 54 career receptions.
  • Norman's 57-yard TD catch in the fourth quarter was a career high, breaking his 55-yard TD score vs. Texas A&M in 2000. The touchdown strike was also Nate Hybl's longest career TD pass.
  • Norman set a career high with 120 yards receiving. His previous high was 98 yards vs. Kansas in 2000. His six catches tied a career high, set on Oct. 14, 2000, vs. Kansas State.
  • Renaldo Works's 72-yard TD run in the first quarter was the second longest of his career. The longest was a 75-yard TD run in the fourth quarter of OU's 45-7 win over Arkansas State, Sept. 9, 2000. His TD run tonight was also the longest for a Sooner since his 75-yarder last season.
  • Tim Duncan missed his first field goal of the season with a 50-yard attempt in the second quarter, which he went wide right.
  • Duncan also missed his first PAT of the season in the third quarter, however penalties made the attempt longer than usual. Duncan's last miss of a PAT was when his final attempt vs. Texas Tech on Nov. 18, 2000, was blocked. It was his only miss of the 2000 season.
  • Duncan's successful 42-yard field goal in the third quarter is the sixth field goal of more than 40 yards he has made as a Sooner.
  • Freshman defensive tackle Tommie Harris had his first career sack in the third quarter for a loss of eight yards.
  • Tonight's attendance of 74,930 marked the 13th consecutive home sellout for Oklahoma, marking every home game in the Bob Stoops coaching era.
  • Junior safety Roy Williams had his first and second interceptions of the season, the fifth and sixth of his career. Tonight was the first time a Sooner had two interceptions in game since Ontei Jones did so in the 2000 Baylor game.
  • Williams' 15 tackles set a new career mark, breaking his previous record of 13, set in 2000 vs. Kansas. He also had two passes defended, two tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
  • Tonight's total of 543 yards marked was the first time OU had 500-plus yards of total offense since the 2000 Baylor game (516 yards). It was the most since the Texas A&M contest in 1999, when OU racked up 552 yards of total offense.
  • Nate Hybl had 362 yards of total offense (350 yards passing and 12 yards rushing) in tonight's game, which is good for seventh on OU's all-time list of single-game total offense.
  • Hybl's 28 completions tied him for 10th all-time in pass completions in a game by an OU quarterback, while his 350 yards passing put him in eighth all-time in passing yardage in a game.
  • Jerad Estus' 35 yards rushing were a career high.
  • Curtis Fagan had eight punt returns for 95 yards. It was the first time Fagan has returned punts in his OU career.
