NORMAN, Okla. - Set for its second match in as many days, the University of Oklahoma volleyball team (1-8, 0-1) welcomes SMU(3-4) to the OU Field House on Thursday at 7 p.m, to open its 2001 home schedule.

This will be the first official meeting between the two teams in the history of the programs. OU played SMU's club team in 1974, losing 2-0. SMU didn't establish a varsity squad until 1996.

The Sooners opened Big 12 Conference play Wednesday night at No. 22 Kansas State (5-2), dropping the match 3-0. Following Thursday's home opener for the Sooners, OU will play host to Kansas (8-0) on Saturday, Sept. 22, to open Big 12 action. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
