Switzer and Jackson to be Honored During OU-UNC Contest

NORMAN, Okla. - During Oklahoma's contest with North Carolina on Saturday, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame will pay tribute to Sooner legends Barry Switzer and Keith Jackson during an on-field ceremony, marking their entry into the exclusive group. The former coach and tight end will receive framed certificates that will then be given to the University for permanent display.

The two gridiron legends will then receive their framed certificates on Dec. 11 at the Foundation's 44th Annual Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. They will be officially enshrined at the Hall of Fame in South Bend, Ind., Aug. 9-10.

Switzer coached the Sooners for 16 years and won three national championships during his tenure in Norman. He became the University's all-time winningest coach by posting a 157-29-4 record, including 12 Big Eight championships and eight bowl wins. His .837 winning percentage is the fourth highest in college football history.

Jackson gained unanimous All-America status while at Oklahoma and left the school as the leading tight end in OU history. He helped lead the Sooners to the 1985 national championship and was selected to the All-Big Eight team three times. He went on to have a successful professional career with the Philadelphia Eagles, Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers.
