NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma Head Men's Gymnastics Coach Mark Williams announced Tuesday that Michael Gehart signed a national letter of intent to compete for the Sooners next season.
Gehart hails from Scottsdale, Ariz., and competed at the USA Gymnastics and Dance Center where he was coached by Mike Naddour. Gehart qualified for the 1999 Junior Nationals and placed second on the vault. An academic All-American, he sports a 3.7 GPA and qualified for the 2000 Junior Olympics.
"With the addition of Michael Gehart - whose strengths are the floor exercise, vault and horizontal bar - and Josh Gore who signed with us earlier in the signing period, it should greatly reinforce our team," said Williams. "I look for them to make a significant contribution in the near future and look forward to welcoming the newest Sooners to our program."
