NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's golf team survived Monday's weather to battle back and eliminate 44 strokes off their previous day's score at the Big 12 Championships in Rhodes, Iowa, Tuesday. Missouri currently leads the tournament with a score of 628, 30 strokes ahead of ninth-place OU. Amelia Moses, from Oklahoma State, is the top individual with a score of 79-73=152.
Freshman Lisa Meldrum's five-under 67 second-round score marked a career best and set a Big 12 Championships single-round record. Redshirt-freshman Hope Edge carded a 79 and junior Jennifer Tannehill shot an 80. Sophomore Allison Johnson shot an 81 and junior Wendy Martin withdrew from the second round due to an illness.
"I felt very good out there today and I just took it one shot at a time," said Meldrum, who shaved 22 strokes off her first-round total. "I'm extremely happy with the way I played today and hope to repeat my performance tomorrow." The Sooners will conclude Big 12 tournament action Wednesday with tee times beginning at 9 a.m.
