NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma sophomore Emily Britt has decided to step away from the basketball court and the two-time defending Big 12 Conference women's basketball team. The 6-0 forward made this personal decision after several weeks on pondering the move.
As a Sooner, Britt averaged 1.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and shot 43.9 percent from the field during her two year stint. This past season, she appeared in 12 games, seven being conference games and against Stanford in the NCAA Tournament, and played 4.4 minutes per outing. She contributed 2.3 ppg, 1.5 rpg while shooting 61.1 percent from the field and 75.0 percent from the stripe.
"We're sad to see Emily leave the team but respect her reasons regarding her decisions to step away from basketball," said Head Coach Sherri Coale. "Emily was an outstanding teammate and though we'll miss her next season we wish her well in her future endeavors."
