Six Sooners Make Big 12 All-Academic Team

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's golf team was honored with five Academic All-Big 12 first-team members and one second-team member to give the Sooners more honorees than any other school in the conference. In addition, sophomore Allison Johnson was recognized as one of two golfers in the conference with 4.00 GPA.
First-team members are junior Betsy Berry (Health & Sports Science, Pre Med), redshirt freshman Hope Edge (University Studies), junior Jennifer James (Management Information Systems), Johnson (Health & Sports Science, Pre Med) and junior Wendy Martin (Management). Junior Jennifer Tannehill (Health & Sports Science, Pre Med) was named to the second-team.
The Big 12 selected a total of 43 members from the conference to be on the Women's Golf All-Academic team. First-team members maintained at least a 3.2 GPA while second-team members held at least a 3.0 GPA. All honorees also competed in at least 60 percent of their team's tournaments.
The women's golf team was also honored at this week's Max Weitzenhoffer Scholar Athlete Breakfast for having the highest GPA of any OU athletics team. The squad's 3.43 GPA for the 2000 calendar year was the highest ever recorded by any team at OU.
