NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics head coach Mark Williams announced today the signing of Josh Gore to a national letter of intent to compete for the Sooners next season. Gore trains at Capital Gymnastics in Austin, Texas, under coach Brandy Wood and was formerly coached by USA Gymnastics committee member Marc Yancey.
Gore is a member of the 2001 Region III team. He has competed on four regional teams that have competed at the Junior Nationals. Gore competed in the all-around at the 1997, 1999 and 2000 Junior Nationals and will participate in the competition again this year. Gore missed the 1998 Junior Nationals due to injury.
"I expect Josh Gore to be an outstanding student-athlete," said Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and Western Region Coach of the Year Williams. "Josh will make a significant contribution to the Oklahoma squad. I see his strengths to help the team on pommel horse, parallel bars and horizontal bar."
