Women's Golf Team In Fifth-Place After First Round

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's golf team shot a round of 304 to tie for fifth place with 21st ranked Louisiana State and Brigham Young in the Dr. Thompson Rainbow Tournament held at Olomana Golf Links in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Sooners, who are ranked 12th by Mastercard, are five strokes off leader Oregon State with two rounds of play to go.

Freshman Lisa Meldrum is currently tied for seventh after shooting a 74. Two strokes behind, tied for 17th place, are sophomore Allison Johnson and junior Wendy Martin. Redshirt freshman Hope Edge is in 34th place after carding a 78, while junior Betsy Berry shot an 80 and is in 53rd place. Juniors Marsha Gonzaga and Jennifer James are competing as individuls and both shot rounds of 77 to tie for 26th place.

Oklahoma will resume with second round play tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. HST, with the tournament concluding on Thursday.
