Oklahoma in Second Place After First Round

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's golf team is currently tied for second place with defending tournament champion Pepperdine after one round of action at in the Pioneer Electronic Bruin Classic in Menefee, Calif. The tournament is being hosted by UCLA, who is currently leading the 18-team field at Menefee Lakes Country Club. Oklahoma shot a 292, its best single round of the season, to trail the leader by one stroke. Angie Yoon of Nevada is leading the tournament after firing a round of 68.

Junior Jennifer Tannehill is pacing the Sooners with a 71 for fourth place, while sophomore Allison Johnson is in sixth place at even par. Freshman Lisa Meldrum is currently in 24th place with a score of 74 and junior Wendy Martin is one stroke behind in 33rd place. Redshirt freshman Hope Edge, who is competing as an individual, carded a 76 and junior Betsy Berry shot an 80.

The Sooners were scheduled to play 36 holes today, but the final 18 were postponed until tomorrow due to darkness. The second round, which is partially finished will resume at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning with the final round commencing at 9:00 a.m.
