Oklahoma Cruises in Second Place After First Round

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's golf team finished the first round of the Midwestern Invitational tournament in second place at the Hyatt Bear Creek in Dallas. They are currently trailing Oklahoma State by four strokes after shooting a 299. The par-72, 5,838-yard golf course was named as one of the 50 best resort courses in America by Golf Digest this year.

Freshman Lisa Meldrum is currently leading the way for the Sooners after firing a 71 to land in a tie for first place. Sophomore Allison Johnson carded a 74 while junior Wendy Martin shot a 75. Junior JT Tannehill shot an 18-hole round of 79 while redshirt freshman Hope Edge finished the day with an 83.

The Sooners, who are currently ranked 25th by Mastercard, will resume play tomorrow with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.. Tournament play will conclude on Sunday, Feb. 25 with the final 18 holes.
